For DP versions, Maxell followed the practice of BASF and AGFA and developed the tape with a 0.75 micron base and a thinner odixe coating than the SP or LP tapes, and the developed a third formula for the TP tape. Having just refurbished and partly rebuilt my Denon T620 combi cassette, cd player (it had mechanical problems) a C120 was the first cassette that I used to test it and it was none other than a Maxell one.īoth the machine and Maxell cassette performed beautifully, so Maxell have another fan and happy customer out here. Maxell put a lot of research and development in their tape line, and they developed SP, LP, DP and TP thicknesses. However having searched around for some C120's on EBay which most manufacturers of cassette and reel to reel recording machines say we should avoid as they tend to get tangled up in them because of tape being so thin I came across a seller who was selling Maxell blank new recording cassette, all the other makes were either downright expensive or worn out having been around and used in the 1960'sĪfter receiving them and testing them out I found that the Maxell brand of C120's was of a very high quality indeed, the sound reproduction to me was as good if not better than I remember of the cassettes I used to buy all those years ago, I was so impressed that I bought a second lot from the same seller and am now a Maxell junky (LOL)Īs for the manufacturers advice not to use C120's on their machines I have found that if your machine is of a good quality and in good or new condition then there should not be a problem, Problems only arise if the deck developed a fault such as a dirty or well worn pinch wheel,
NEW MEXELL SOUND DECK SERIES
TF-RACK is a compact rack-mount version of the TF Series digital mixing consoles, offering the same levels of performance and groundbreaking operability. Which is something no other tape company bothers to do.Many years ago I lived down the road in Telford where the Maxell factory was situated, At the time I used to use other brands of recording cassettes and tapes such as EMI (emitape) Agfa, Telefunken and Philips, all were good quality tapes, I never bought or used tapes made by Maxell as there was a bit of a joke going around as to it's quality and performance. TF series consoles take live sound reinforcement to a new level of refinement with TouchFlow Operation, recallable D-PRE preamplifiers, advanced processing and much more.

So we out special nonabrasive head cleaner on all our cassettes and reel-to-reel tapes. We clean off the crud other tapes leave behind.Īfter all the work we put into our tape, we're not about to let it go to waste on a dirty tape recorder head. And since even a little speck of dust can put a dropout in tape, no one gets into our manufacturing area until he's been washed, dressed in a special dust-free uniform and vacuumed. Because if every particle isn't perfect, the sound you hear won't be either. The reason our tape sounds so good is because it's made so carefully.Įvery batch of magnetic oxide we use gets run through an electron microscope. So if you are having similar issues try adjusting both volumes.
NEW MEXELL SOUND DECK TV
The combination of lower Maxell volume and higher TV volume seems to satisfy the Auto Power Off feature that there is sufficient sound coming from the TV. So it makes no sense to invest in Maxell unless you have equipment that can put it to good use. Without the Maxell the TV sound would begin to get loud at 20 so normally 40 would be blasting. Our tape is expensive because it's designed specifically to get the most out of good high fidelity components. In fact, a single reel of our most expensive tape costs more than many inexpensive tape recorders.

The tape that's too good for most equipment.
